The Night of the Black Stars – Indigenous Boxing Academy Launch
To coincide and celebrate the first anniversary of Kevin Rudd's parliamentary apology, the Night of the Black Stars event will be held at The Block located in the Aboriginal heartland of Redfern on Black Friday, Friday 13th of February, 2009. The major community event is being held to raise funds for the Indigenous Sporting Academy and Indigenous Boxing Academy.
The evening will consist of sensational Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultural acts by stars like Casey Donovan and the Street Warriors as well as eight bouts featuring the cream of Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait professional and amateur boxers including:

- Dion McNabney
- Joey Williams
- Campbell Cobbo Riley
- Paulie West
- Danny Gilbert
- Jason Morris
- Ricky Lyons
Throughout the afternoon, all local kids are invited to come down and join in the many free activities that will be available including Vibe 3on3 basketball games, break dancing and rap workshops, art classes, face painting, story writing, jumping castles and other children's entertainment.
