Co-ordinating five youth festivals nationally in only a six month period is a huge task. When coupled with the complex format of Vibe Alive, a huge task quickly becomes mammoth.

Five super high energy festivals and a total of 16,000 students, teachers and community members, all competing in an Olympic type environment was the job at hand. Instead of swimming, athletics and gymnastics, Vibe Alive is about singing, dancing, art, spelling, mathematics and 3on3 basketball. With a tight crew of 10 and a cast of only 8, the result was nothing short of magic.

Melissa Park was one of the 10 people creating magic and a very important part of the team.

Working in an environment where she had very little briefing and limited contact with other team players, she performed miraculously, and value added at every corner.

A lot of people who call themselves event producers, would not be able to survive in the Vibe Alive environment.  The event was nothing but hard, exhausting, non-stop and strenuous. Very few people could pull it off - the combination of large scale staging and production requirements, coupled with the political imperatives such as cultural parameters, desire for educational outcomes, State/Territories and Federal Government perspectives and, of course, local politics.

It was a baptism of fire – not for the faint hearted – and Melissa Park excelled.

Dedication, focus and commitment to the job at hand are never a question with Melissa. And on site those little things that could bring the event down are always covered. An ability to listen to others is a quality Melissa possesses, as is her respect for co-workers and those around her.

Melissa understands the importance of teamwork and cohesion within a team and knows how to liaise and respectfully deal with people at a local level.

Vibe Alive is an event that I have worked to create for almost 20 years, and to see the event take shape in such a professional and appropriate manner is something Melissa deserves much credit for.
